Almost Heaven Area Attractions
One of the largest wineries in Virginia, the
Chateau Morrisette Winery is one of
Floyd County's most popular attractions. If you are a wine lover, don't
forget
Villa Appalaccia Winery
which is only another mile up the Parkway.
For those that like hiking and the outdoors,
Rocky Knob Picnic Area and Trails
is where you should stop. From a 10-mile hike to a 1-mile easy loop, Rocky
Knob has a trail for even the most inexperienced hikers.
Mabry Mill, the
most photographed spot on the Blue Ridge Parkway, has a
restaurant and gift shop, as well as an outdoor museum
where old time skills are demonstrated. For golfers, the
Olde Mill Golf Resort
is just a short 15-minute drive from our properties.
Play golf in a truly unique and beautiful
setting. We have golf packages available.
Do you like to fish? Take a
guided fishing trip- you'll spend your day lazily floating down the New River on
a raft catching smallmouth bass, walleye, muskie and striped bass. Multiple raft and
half-day trips are available.
You can also spend time checking out
Floyd, the county
seat and largest town in Floyd County. On Friday nights
stop by the renowned
Floyd Country Store
where you can experience the Friday Night Jamboree.
People gather inside the store and on the streets to
listen to and perform bluegrass, gospel, and “real
mountain” music. If you’re looking for a place to eat,
go no further than
Oddfellas Cantina, specializing in
“Appalachian Latino” cuisine, vegetarian dishes, and
Floyd County raised beef. Check their website for their
current schedule of local musicians who perform nightly.
When visiting Meadows of Dan, be sure to stop at
Nancy's Candy Co. for
chocolates and other delightful candies. Or, if antiques
are more your thing, stop in the Meadows Edge Knife Shop
and Antiques. The Poor Farmer’s Market has lots of local
produce and homemade products for sale. And don’t forget
to visit Becky’s Fried Pie Stand for a spot of
lunch...or maybe just a fried pie!
